Element Sports Coaching and Mercury Rising
Triathlon are partnering to bring you The Chase and Race! The event
will take place on Saturday, July 4th (Clint’s Birthday!) at Hamsterly
Beach and include completing the Victoria 70.3 90km bike course and two times around the lake. A swim post event is recommended for fun but not included in the timed portion.
Inspired
by Black Lives Matter, these events are being organized in support of
Right to Play. We have chosen this global charitable organization
because they use the power of sport and play to educate
children who are facing adversity, poverty and conflict. We are asking
for a suggested donation of $20. Please follow the link.
There are 3 different options to participate in:
The Social: Ride with 8 of your friends, run if you want – Just be out there safely and have fun.
The Chase (Bike+Run):
This is competitive. We will take your total time and identify your
‘handicap’. We will tell you when to go and you ride and run down your
team mates. Results will be posted based on your clocked time provided.
The 90-TT: This
is a 90km ride done for time. You have between June 27th and July 4th
to complete the course. If you would like to complete it on July 4th we
will separate you by one minute with the slowest estimated time leaving
first.
How it works: Step 1) Register by June 28th by emailing info@elementsportscoaching.com. You must provide the following information: 1. Your name 2. The event you wish to participate in: The Social, The Chase*, The 90-TT
The Chase Participants: Please provide your 2019 IRONMAN Victoria 70.3 time (total time with swim, bike, run).
The 90-TT Participants:
If you would like to do it on July 4th, please provide your estimated
time to complete the course. We will stagger the start in groups of 8
with the slowest estimated time first.
The Social: Please state no time, just ‘social’.
3. Your Club name
Step 2) We
will contact you by Thursday July 2nd with start times. Start times
will be provided to participants in groups of 8 individuals. There will
be 15-20 minutes separating each group. This is being done to abide by
Cycling BC and Triathlon BC Guidelines to reduce the number of people
congregating in one place and supporting physical distancing measures.
The first individual will start at 7:30am.
Step 3) Race
Day July 4th. Tenille/Clint will be checking off and starting
participants. Please DO NOT show up more than 15 minutes before your
start time. We want to limit congregating as much as possible. Also
please do not stay to socialize after completing your event. Again this
is being done in adherence to Covid-19 Guidelines.
Step 4) Post
a picture or video on social media about how you participated in the
Chase and Race, tag @elementsportscoaching and @mercuryrisingtriathlon and use the hashtag
#RightToPlay and #inyourelement to encourage others to donate as
well.
Step 5) Upon completion of your bike and/or run, send the following information to info@elementsportscoaching.com 1. Your name 2. Your total bike, transition and run time in 00:00:00 format (or only bike time) 3. Your data files for verification. (We will only be checking if some discrepancy is noted.) Once compiled the results will be posted. The reward? Sheer adrenaline and fun competition
